What is J'Ouvert Steel Band?
J'Ouvert (joo-vay) Steel Band is a 2-5 piece pan band created in 2001
to promote the instrument and music of the steel pan.
J'Ouvert performs a diverse repertoire of music including:
Latin, Reggae, Calypso, Soca,
R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Jazz,
and even Video Game Themes.
We are based out of Columbia, SC.
Pans for Cans
J'Ouvert Steel Band is currently working on Pans For Cans,
to raise money and cans for Harvest Hope Food Bank.
Pans for cans will be an ongoing project.
-J'Ouvert Steel Band is working on a
J'Ouvert Original CD, called "Pans for Cans", with commissioned works by:
Andy Akiho, David Cobb, and Nathan Koci.
10% of the profit from Pans for cans will go Harvest Hope Food Bank
for the life of the CD.
-Pans for Cans is also holding a fundraiser at the Rusty Anchor.
The event will be held June the 13th from 2pm to 8pm.
J'Ouvert Steel Band will be performing along with other entertainment
throughout the day. There will be a silent auction(please email to donate an item or service to the silent Auction)
and drink specials that will benefit the fundraiser.
Bring cans and an open heart.
